Baptism:
Baptism for children is ordinarily celebrated after the 11:00 a.m. Mass
on the LAST SUNDAY of
each month. The pastor meets individually with all parents and there
is a Baptismal prep session held the week before the Baptisms. Adults
are baptized during the Easter Vigil services after completing the R.C.I.A.
process.
Confirmation:
This sacrament is "readiness based" and separate from the
Catholic School and Faith
Formation sessions. Our teens are Confirmed at the end of their tenth
grade program. This is the focal point of a four-year continual process,
which begins in the seventh grade. The four years are a blend of classes,
retreats, and involvement in service-oriented projects. Adults are confirmed
during the Easter Vigil
services after completing the R.C.I.A. process.
Eucharist:
First Eucharist is ordinarily celebrated in the second grade. Each child
is dealt with individually, in
accordance with their understanding and past religious preparation.
We try to bring them to a point of comfortable awareness of the sacrament
before reception. Adults receiving the First Eucharist, again, do so
during the Easter Vigil having completed the R.C.I.A. process.
Reconciliation:
We follow the Diocesan guideline of reception of First Reconciliation
BEFORE First
Eucharist. Timing is in relationship to the guidelines for Eucharist
as listed above.
Matrimony:
Couples planning Marriage are to meet with the pastor AT LEAST SIX MONTHS
prior to the
prospective date. The guidelines of the Diocese of Syracuse are used
to both prepare for the marriage and for the wedding ceremony.
